Food Suggestions

Everyone will be asked as some point during the season to bring either food or drinks to a wrestling match. The schedule page shows which event you have been scheduled for. As the event you are responsible for gets closer, you will be informed how many sandwiches and/or drinks you will need to provide. The number will depend on how many wrestlers will be attending the particular match.

If you're a first time wrestling parent, the following suggestions should hopefully answer any questions you may have concerning what to bring.

Beverages - Gatorade, or any sport drink, are always a good idea. The only restriction is that you are asked to please not bring soft drinks. If you're bringing drinks for a Saturday dual match, please bring 1 1/2 times the number of wrestlers, and bring 1/2 water and 1/2 sport drinks. They are there all day long and will go through a lot of liquids.

Breakfast - Breakfast is only provided for Saturday dual matches. Some suggestions here include mini-bagels (already cream-cheesed), bananas, powerbars, granola bars, and Sunny Delight (OJ is too acidic). Please feel free to bring any combination that suits you. And, PLEASE BRING NAPKINS.

Sandwiches - Pretty much anything goes here. Popular choices are PB&J, turkey, ham & cheese, etc. Lettuce is always a nice addition. Providing squeeze bottles of condiments (mustard, mayo, etc.) allows the guys to dress their sandwich to their taste. Some parents have opted to buy subs as Subway or Jersey Mikes, but this is entirely up to you. Just do what you are comfortable with. And, PLEASE BRING NAPKINS.

Food and Drink Delivery - Getting the food or drink to the match is obviously not a problem if you will be attending the match. Just bring it with you. If you are not planning on going, you will need to arrange to get it to the wrestling room before the team leaves for the match. (In the near future there should be a 'Match Details' page available for each match that will list what time the bus will be leaving.) If it is a weekday match (home or away), you can bring it to the wrestling room anytime after 2:15PM. There should always be someone there. If it is a weekend match, and your child is going, you can send it with your child. If your child will not be going, you could make arrangements with Coach Duncan on when to bring it to the school, or you can solicit the help of another wrestling parent whose child is going to the match to bring it in.

FOR ALL PARENTS WHOSE SON WILL BE WRESTLING AT A SATURDAY DUALS MATCH - Please pack a snack for him to bring to the match. These matches can be a very long day, and the above food and drinks may not always be enough. As an alternative, make sure he has some money as most events have concessions.
